Dr Singh is the Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva, with direct responsibilities in the areas of agriculture, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade in services, trade and environment, and technical barriers to trade.  The WTO divisions that deal with these areas provide support to the committees and councils established to address WTO legal agreements pertaining to these topics. They also assist with negotiations, the dispute settlement process, provide technical assistance and capacity building services, carry out coordinated work with other international organisations or national research bodies, and conduct outreach activities.  His responsibilities also include e-commerce issues and certain administrative matters, representational participation in high level events/discussions, and coordinated work with other international organisations.
